Even More Collector’s Editions!

Now that the crazy holiday shopping season is finally over, one would think there would be plenty of time for my credit card to have a nice long relaxing rest.  But, boy oh boy was I wrong.  It has been a couple of months since my previous post regarding notable Collector’s Editions on Mighty Ape.   I had posted that list as a suggestions list of sorts for Christmas ideas for others, but looking back at that list it kind of shocked me, seeing how many items on that list I actually own (or have pre-ordered).  It was then I realised that I have a problem – it seems that I have an addiction.  And unlike Robert Palmer, I am addicted not to love, but to retail.

Here today I will share with you even more Collector’s Editions from my favorite shopping site. Whether you share in my addiction or not, one thing is for sure – these limited run titles sure look amazing.  So, without further ado, ladies and gents, get ready to drool.

Yakuza is a semi open world action adventure series with a huge cult following.  Since a lot of quality and niche games never manage to escape the shores of Japan, when this series was released to the Western markets it both shocked and delighted gamers worldwide.  Every game in the series had gathered high praises, and with more playable characters; a more open world; enhanced combat mechanics, and many other improvements – this latest entry promises to be the best yet.

http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/PC-Games/Total-War-Shogun-2-Grand-Master-Edition-Includes-Chess-Set/10184022/?r=1464222

I must confess I have never played any of the Total War games, and have very little interest in the series, but this Grand Master Edition really caught my eyes when I came across it on Mighty Ape.  This “Total War: Shogun 2 Grand Master Edition” comes with a highly detailed collectible Japanese general figurine, an art book, and a beautiful die-cast chess set, all packaged up in a beautiful replica bamboo box.  The physical bonuses in this edition are true things of beauty, but as it stands – with an additional playable faction; scenario; full armour set for your online avatar; and bonus XP, even the in-game bonuses alone are worthy of the price of entry.

A ‘standard’ Collector’s Edition is also available.  http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/PC-Games/Total-War-Shogun-2-Collectors-Edition/9974908/?r=1464222

http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/PC-Games/Tales-of-Monkey-Island-Collectors-Edition/10221807/?r=1464222

If you are like me, a gamer who grew up in the 90s, then chances are you would remember fondly the classic Monkey Island point-and-click adventure games.  It was an amazing series filled with some of the best writing and characters ever conceived – which is why millions of gamers giggled with glee recently, when Tell-Tale-Games relaunched the series with a brand new Monkey Island game.  Dubbed “Tales of Monkey Island”, it was released in five episodic parts, and was available exclusively online from sources like Steam.

“Tales of Monkey Island Collector’s Edition” collects all five episodes and packs them into a physical box, along with a production art gallery; desktop wallpapers and fun forum avatars; as well physical loot based on items found in-game, with drink coaster from Club 41; Pirate piece of eight coin; a Gulf of Melange map; and a voodoo card.  From a small developer, this will be a limited release – a definite must buy for all collectors and fans of the series.

http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/PS3/LittleBigPlanet-2-Limited-Collectors-Edition-Book-ends-Sackboy-plushie–more/10097817/?r=1464222

And finally, once again it’s Sackboy, sitting on the top of my list.

Here we have the US Collector’s Edition of “LittleBigPlanet 2”, which comes with a ton of goodies, both physical and in-game.  The best physical part of this Collector’s Edition would be the exclusive LBP2 bookends, but it also comes with a 7” Sackboy plushie and an attractive collector’s packaging.  In-game goodies-wise you will get 5 exclusive LBP2 PSN Avatars, as well as 11 downloadable Sackboy costumes, which includes Pixar’s “Toy Story 3” alien; “TRON: Legacy” Clu; Muppets’ The Great Gonzo; Ratchet & Clank; Jak & Daxter; and more!

If you are a Sackboy fan, then this Collector’s Edition is a no-brainer.

And there you have it – 10 more Collector’s Editions.  In the future I will continue to keep my eyes open, and will probably periodically update this blog with new and notable titles as I come across them.  Anyways hope you enjoyed looking at them as much as I enjoyed drooling over them!

Now, would you all please excuse me while I go comfort my weeping empty wallet…

About BC_Animus

I spend all of my non-work time pretty much on games, movies, and listening to music and podcasts. Gadget lover and gamer - own several major consoles, but mainly play MMOs on the PC nowadays. I am quiet & shy but hell of a nice guy. Consider my childhood days to be the golden age of gaming, with companies like Origin with their Ultimas and Privateers. For me MMOs are all about the people, and not about gear or loot. View all posts by BC_Animus
