Spotlight: Rubber [2011]

It is currently 5:01pm on a Thursday afternoon – the perfect time methinks, for yet another movie spotlight!  Today’s spotlight is on ‘Rubber‘, a movie released in 2010 from the French writer/director Quentin Dupieux.  Much like my previous spotlights, this movie is a comedy/hybrid that most would agree is somewhat rubbish, but is filled with enough WTF-moments to be somewhat enjoyable.

The film-makers describes ‘Rubber’ as “the story of Robert, an inanimate tire that has been abandoned in the desert, and suddenly comes to life.  As Robert roams the bleak landscape, he discovers that he possesses terrifying telepathic powers that give him the ability to destroy anything he wishes.  Leaving a swath of destruction across the desert landscape, Robert becomes a chaotic force to be reckoned with”.  Rolling tires and exploding heads – ’nuff said huh?

Hope you enjoyed the trailer.  Let me now leave you with a quote from the movie: “My God, the kid was right, the killer is the tire!” Retarded movies… what can I say, I just love ’em!
